Principal Dan Long hands out ice cream and popcicles to students to kick off an ISASP Reward Day.
It was sunshine and smiles at the high school today as students enjoyed a well-earned break from the classroom. As part of a reward day for their hard work and dedication, students spent the final hour of the school day outside playing tennis, football, and soccer.
The special event came on the heels of notable improvements in the statewide ISASP (Iowa Statewide Assessment of Student Progress) test scores across all grade levels at the high school. This year, administrators, teachers, and students placed a strong emphasis on preparing for the English, Math, and Science assessments through intentional learning strategies, focused discussions, and practicing test-taking skills.
“Pretty fun to get out and release some stress from finals and everything,” said Manuel Ramos, a sophomore.
To mark the achievement, students were treated to ice cream and popsicles while enjoying the fresh air and each other’s company.
