Mason City High School seniors gathered in the gymnasium last week for one of the final times to take their last class picture together.
“It feels awesome to be a senior,” said Max Lang.
The picture, their official class portrait, will be hung with all the other past graduates on the main office wall. Graduation pictures are not just ordinary pictures; they also become memories that students can see and talk about all over the school.

“We’ve been told about this stuff, and like we’ve seen the photos before, so it’s kind of exciting but nerve-racking as well to have mine finally taken,” said Red Brantner.

“Kind of surreal, honestly,” said Raylynn York. “I didn’t think I would get here. Very dream-like, like I’m here but asleep, kind of just walking like sleepwalking.”
Brantner and York both say they’re nervous to be entering adulthood but ready for the next phase of their lives.
“A bit relieving because it’s been a long four years,” said Brantner, “But also nervous as well to be an adult and move on because, like this is what we’ve done our whole life, kind of being in school.
The Class of 2025 graduation ceremony will be held on Sunday, June 1.
