The Mason City Riverhawks played the Marion Wolves at Riverhawk Stadium on Friday. Both teams came into the game 1-2, looking to improve their record. But only one team was allowed to go to 2-2, and that team was the Riverhawks, winning 29-6.
The Riverhawks came out of the doors swinging, putting up 20 points in the first quarter and never looking back. Quarterback Jameer Falls led the way for the offense with 2 touchdowns (1 touchdown rushing and 1 throwing). He also completed 11 of his 14 passes for 123 yards and no interceptions. On the defensive side of the ball, Sam Collins led the way, having taken an interception in for a touchdown. Collins also had 3.5 tackles, 2 of those solo tackles, and he had 1 sack. The defense was really impressive, only allowing 6 points and only allowing 147 yards of total offense from the Wolves, both season bests.
This Friday, the Riverhawks play the Waverly-Shell Rock Go-Hawks at Go-Hawk Stadium. The Go-Hawks are coming off a 7-28 loss to the Algona Bulldogs.
