Mason City High Schoolers had a lot to celebrate before heading into the holidays. They started their Tuesday before break at a pep assembly announcing the ‘good things’ happening with the sports teams and clubs. They also played a human version of Hungry Hippos and watched a teacher get pied in the face- for a good cause. Later in the day, Spanish classes spread holiday cheer by caroling from room to room. Aukenio Okin, Staff
Aukenio Okin is a proud Micronesian with a passion for sports, especially basketball and football. He hasn’t signed up for school sports teams, but still enjoys playing for fun and staying active. Aukenio loves the energy, exercise, and teamwork that come with both games. In addition to basketball and football, Aukenio likes playing a variety of other sports, including baseball, soccer, and volleyball. “I’m someone who enjoys staying active, trying different things, and simply just living throughout my life.”
Outside of school and sports, Aukenio enjoys relaxing with family and friends. His favorite foods include scrambled eggs, ramen, and anything with chicken. He’s a big fan of movies, especially Spider-Man and his favorite actor is Tom Holland as Spider-Man. If Aukenio could teleport to any place it would be New York because “I really love the energy out there, and I always wanted to look at the Statue of Liberty in person.”
